Veterinarian Marci Godwin, DVM

Dr. Godwin has known she wanted to be a veterinarian since she was four years old. She felt such an affinity for animals and couldn’t bear their suffering; she wanted to help every single one. In the sixth grade, she volunteered at the Mitchell Village Animal Hospital (where she met Dr. Taylor) and was active in 4-H throughout her school years.

The day that secured her path was during her sophomore year in high school when she had difficulty finding help for her prized horse who had broken a leg going over the pasture fence. That day, she decided to never feel that helpless again and she resolved to be capable of treating any animal that needed care. She earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Animal Science and Biological Life Sciences from NC State University followed by her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2007.

Dr. Godwin believes that a veterinarian’s compassion is as important as their knowledge. “No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care,” says Dr. Godwin, “and I truly care about pets and their people.”
