Veterinarian Roxanne K. Taylor, DVM

Animals have been important to Dr. Taylor her entire life. Her passion for healing started when she was kindergarten age, when kids in her Newport, NC neighborhood would bring injured wildlife to her to “fix”.

Through high school she immersed herself in animal care volunteering then working at a local Veterinary clinic, ultimately earning a Bachelor of Science degree from ECU and obtaining her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989.

Dr. Taylor opened Mitchell Village Animal Hospital with Dr. David Hall in 1989, followed by Bridges Professional Park Veterinary Hospital in 1997. Two successes attributed to her unwavering commitment to providing compassionate pet medicine and a reputation for the same.

Her expertise is almost as broad as her love of animals. As well as traditional pets, Dr. Taylor treats pocket pets like guinea pigs and hamsters, and exotics like birds, snakes, and including the sea life residents of the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.

“I love greeting newborn pets and getting to be their medical caregiver throughout their lives,” says Dr. Taylor. “The most gratifying aspect of veterinary medicine is diagnosing the disease and the successful recovery of my patients. I get to be a detective of sorts since my animal patients cannot verbalize their symptoms. The pet's ability to overcome trauma and disease is a fascinating process. Being a part of their healing is truly rewarding.”
